Changes are There, Here, and Coming!

Hello Friends of StreetLight,

We are excited to launch and grow this new website to provide a more user friendly and functional tool. This format allows us to make available such features as online volunteer applications, community resources, blog and newsletter postings, videos, online donations, contact forms, etc. Over the next few months, you will see the content begin to expand.

The new website is just a part of the changes that has been taking place over the past few months and that are ongoing. From the time of it's inception in 2011, StreetLight was under the loving care and support of Christ Church of Winston-Salem. They faithfully gave spiritual encouragement, financial support from their members, a location to meet and pray, and they received and tended donations on our behalf. To say that we are grateful for their loving care is such an understatement!

As the long-term vision for the ministry began to unfold, it became clear that we needed to start working our way towards our own 501(c)3 status. However, it also became clear that we needed a transition point which would allow us to have a certain level of independence to operate under our own EIN that we could present to other community resources/churches/business, have control over our own bank accounts, fundraise, and become financially stronger. All of these factors will allow to us continue club outreaches and provide more tangible services with a long-term impact (continued education, emergency intervention, legal assistance, etc.).

I am thrilled to say that we have found that transitional partnership with City of Dreams Church. Pastors Timothy and Jennifer Bibb, and their congregation, have amazing hearts to serve in and see this community transformed. In addition to StreetLight, CODC has allowed 2 additional young non-profits to sit and grow under the umbrella of their 501(c)3. While we are under their umbrella, we also operate under our own name, organizational structure, employer identification number (EIN), independent bank accounts, and leadership. We are blessed to be partnered with a church that encourages us, prays for us faithfully, and has a passion for helping to launch and grow community changing ministries. While this new level of partnership is new, our relationship with them has been in place for over a year, when Jennifer first started volunteering with us.

With all of these transitions happening, we also want to share the growing need for both human and financial resources. We need to see an influx of volunteers who have a desire see the lives of men, women, and entire families transformed. In addition to outreach volunteers, we need administrative help, prayer warriors, clubs to be adopted by churches and organizations, mentors public relations volunteers, etc. We also need financial partners. We have started going into 2 new clubs within the past months, and that means additional monthly expenses. We also have a vision to start offering continued education scholarships and emergency intervention in the near future. We are asking you to consider partnering with us on either a one time or monthly basis to help make these things possible. For more information on how to make donations online or by check, please click on the donations tab above.

As always, we are grateful for your prays and encouragement. Please continue to pray for us as we minister to both women and the male staff working in the local clubs, and pray for our wisdom, patience, and resources needs through the transitions that are happening.
